Modern cooling systems are setting increasingly high standards for coolants. Vulnerable and expensive parts such as the radiator, water pump and seals need to last for longer and longer. The life cycle of the coolant itself is becoming longer, too: these days, coolants that last for as long as the engine are more the rule than the exception. Also, car manufacturers are feeling the need to stand out from the crowd and strengthen their own brand image. That explains why more and more specific brand colours and specifications are appearing on the market. Kroon-Oil, working in partnership with these manufacturers, has responded to this trend by developing its premium quality SP (Special Product) line for coolants.
Coolant SP 13 is a premium quality, lilac-coloured, ready-for-use Long Life coolant (freeze protection -36 °C) featuring a patented LOBRID additive technology based on Organic Acid Technology additives supplemented with a small percentage of silicate. With this technology Coolant SP 13 offers much longer protection against corrosion than standard antifreeze qualities, which increases the life span of vulnerable parts such as the radiator, water pump and seals. Powerful corrosion inhibitors prevent the formation of sludge and deposits in the radiator, guaranteeing optimum cooling - also in the long term. Coolant SP 13 is tailored specifically for use in engines/radiators made of light metals such as aluminium, magnesium or their alloys.
Application
Coolant SP 13 has been designed especially for cooling systems for Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Seat. The VAG group uses very special aluminium and magnesium alloys for its latest generation of engines. Optimally protecting these new alloys against corrosion calls for a new coolant quality that meets the VW specification TL VW 774J (G13). The use of powerful corrosion inhibitors makes Coolant SP 13 virtually immune to ageing, so that it can be used as a longlife coolant. The best result is obtained with a 100% filling. Kroon-Oil Coolant SP 13 can be mixed with Kroon-Oil Coolant SP 12++ and Kroon-Oil Coolant Sp 12 without restriction. Please note! Owing to the altered composition of VW G13 coolants, it is only possible to reliably measure the freeze protection level using special refractometers with a separate G13 scale division!
