Mercedes-Benz vs. Daimler Truck Oil Specifications

13-07-2023

On December 1, 2021, Daimler AG underwent a division into two separate companies: Mercedes-Benz Group AG (MBAG) and Daimler Truck AG (DTAG). This division led to a clear separation between the divisions handling passenger vehicles and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. As of April 1st, the above-mentioned companies have also implemented a split in their oil specifications, marking a transition period of one year.

During this transition, all Mercedes-Benz oil specifications falling under the management of DTAG will be renumbered retrospectively from their current MB codes to the new Daimler Truck Fluid Release (DTFR) specifications. For instance, MB 228.51 will now be known as DTFR 15C110. Additionally, there are some specifications that both MBAG and DTAG previously used, and these will also be assigned new MB numbers. For example, MB 236.9 will become MB 236.93.

To ensure a smooth transition for everyone, we will also display the new DTFR and MB specifications on our products. We understand that many vehicle guidelines still reference the current MB specifications, so we will continue to include them on our website and products (if possible).

With this change in place, we strive to maintain the highest quality standards while adapting to the evolving needs of the industry. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this transitional phase. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or require further information.
